I guess I would say that's not true this time. Thankfully Elder Johnston and myself will be staying together for another transfer! YESSS!!!! ♫ *Doin the "thriller" dance* - RIP MJ
So Highlights from this past week:
- Yesterday, Sunday we, the four Winder Elders and our WML had the privilege to speak in Sacrament. We were asked by the Bishop to talk and relate on the topic of missionary work as well. The ward has now been challenged to be a part of a 21 day Missionary Outreach. It was such a great meeting, the Bishop here spoke at the end with such boldness and power. After 6 weeks now of serving in Winder I'm definitely in my element - working and loving the ward.
- Friday night was rocked under the heavens, Elder Johnston and I traveled into the backlands of the Gosslings (members) home to be a part of a Scout Devotional. Working with the YM and youth in the ward takes me back not too long ago when I was just there. Light's definitely displayed with these kids and their leaders.
- Exchange took place Tuesday, I went with Elder Hacking (Hackers ;p) to Ft. Yargo. It was excellent. He's from Utah, about my height, but the most buff missionary I've ever met. He did lots of Martial Arts before the mish. Only 4 months in and he's a rock.
What Jesus Christ gives us in Matthew the fifth chapter, reads:
"Ye are a light of the world. A city that is set on a a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven."
Do we purchase pumpkins, then carve them so they remain indoors?
No, not at all, after purchase and carve they're placed on doorsteps, in window sills. What that jack o' lantern does now is it gives a sign for children who pass to know whether or not to knock and ask the age old question "trick or treat?".
It's fitting isn't it? The light that glows from a gourd has a similar effect as the light that comes from the christian. From the part of a missionary, here's my confession and testimony. Let your light shine for others, do unto those as you would want done unto you. Be courteous, kind, understanding and do good. Don't let your light sit under baskets, and don't leave those pumpkins to rot in the house.
I'm so grateful for this gospel and for the year it's been to learn of my Heavenly Father, His ultimate plan of Redemption, and his love for me.
Ready now for an exciting week, transfers means new missionaries to our zone. Our ward will also be getting a new greenie, so that's goin' to be quite fun.
