It's currently raining, and it is great! I acquired a new pair of mission pants! :) Given from a new friend in this ward, who served his mission not too long ago in Brazil. I think.. but these pants are so comfy, sigh the mission pleasures, ;)
Isn't it great to be a missionary and watch General Conference? I think it is! :) I loved watching General Conference, it was better than going to the movies, watching Netflix, or even instagramming (the old life). The talks and remarks this conference were soothing to the soul. Watching it the second time while on a mission was so neat. The speakers are truly men and women called of God and speak so sincerely, and then there are others like the fiery Elder Holland who was so bold and so awesome. And at the end of the day the spirit answers in simple whispers.
I've learned techniques on the mission to help receive tons more revelation and guidance to make meetings and study, as well as GC as uplifting and enlightening as possible. Again, it is our responsibility to watch and listen with desire and humility of heart to gain and learn to grow. Being set apart allows us to receive so much insight that I would never think of getting being home watching it or listening on the sofa. Not saying you can't receive the insight I received for even we as missionaries must come to know that only the righteous shall receive their reward.
Speaking of reward, I was especially intrigued by the continued phrase "for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." and I have thought it over, and this past transfer week means that I've been away from Utah for 6 months. I've asked myself how can I really fulfill my purpose for the rest of my mission, no regrets, no worries, just love and all that jazz, ya know? How can I make this 4 minute run the greatest?
Another message learned and taken from conference, to pray to seek to ponder and to try doing what our good friend James directs and that is, ask in faith.
I want so desperately to baptize at least one soul in Shallowford. How in agreement with Alma I feel, when I wish that I too could be an angel with a trump, crying repentance unto these southerners. Maybe a sick pair of bass speakers instead of a trump, or even a kazoo to try to really rattle this message into these rich folk and catch their attention. I may just be saying that as well just cause I miss having a car. But then careful what you wish for, in between conference sessions while out tracting, one door did not want us there and so used the f-bomb multiple times and a cup of water to get us to leave. How childish, at least it was better than mashed potatoes! #DefendTheFaith
This area is tough as some would say, but I say to myself it is only as tough as you make it. We've had success in finding people, and now comes the next process and that is teaching them. Thank goodness for the mission handbook Preach My Gospel, the scriptures, and a companion who is on fire when it comes to getting to work. So of my dreams, one I pray to baptize and save and to make this area not just good, not just better than when I started, but as best as can be.Part of the run is running, and part of this life is building upon building, line upon line and climb after climb.
It's an exciting time to work, and it can be strenuous a lot, and I'm grateful for President Dieter F. Uchtdorf words, "Don't Sleep Through the Restoration". This phrase I now banner by my bedside to motivate me to rising up on time, and today it worked... kinda ha.
Being a trainer is like parenting without the whole parenting part, and now newly assigned District Leader is an honor, but my only thoughts on this new call is, "whom the lord calls he qualifies." Still trying to be qualified as a trainer, but hey let's have some fun!
Also, Elder Anderson from my greenie days is now our new Zone Leader and fellow missionary in our ward. Huzah! I love that kid to death. He is really one of the greatest friends I've made thus far on the mission and it is so cool to look at how far we've grown since I left the Monroe Ward 4 months ago. He's awesome, I'm doing awesome, and this week should be stellar.
Y'all have a great week!
Let's save some lives A.S.A.P.
