Hola, Feliz Cinco De Mayo!
Wow, we worked our tails off this past week! It feels awesome:) It also feels like an oven. Man is it getting toasty and hot outside! But really, the weather is shifting to summer. Hope that the week has been full of miraculous events for all y'all.
A member shared an experience with us where she had trouble with a printer, and couldn't get it to work cause she didn't have the password. Well after a bit of frustration she said she prayed to God for help. Suddenly the thought of "nopassword" came into her mind, she put it in and what do you know, the printer started to work.
She said that because of this little experience she's come to know even more that God really is watching us everyday and every minute. I told her that little experiences like this could be called in a sense a modern day miracle.
This term has stuck in my head since then and we actually experienced a really cool modern day miracle this week if I may share:
After tracting for a few hours with little success and heading to a members home, a car honked then pulled over in front to talk to us. In my head I think, "Either a member, or crap a Jehovah Witness...". Turns out the guy is an unfamiliar face and offers to give us a ride to wherever we need to go. We were just on foot that day, so who could deny that opportunity?
While driving with him we got to know he was a RM of about a year, from GA and just got home from a year at BYU. Well he took us to the area where the member lived, and then asked if we needed him to tag along to do a team up.
Wow! We rarely get team ups in the middle of the day, then suddenly God gives us one the day we have no appointments planned -__-
I thought it was over.
Then the guy says he actually has a cousin (nonmember) in the area who is goin' through a rough time and could use some missionaries. We aren't goin; to mess up the chance to teach someone elect, so we go with him to his cousins home, we meet the kid who's about 16 and we share a message of hope and prayer with him.
Turns out he had met with missionaries a few years ago and went to live with his dad who was atheist and they stopped missionary visits.
Last week we had fasted and prayed for someone who was ready to receive the gospel to come into our paths to teach and help, and what do you know prayers are answered! Now this kid wants to learn about the church again, and wants to meet with missionaries, and we now have a new investigator to teach!
Looking at this miracle and other events this past week has grown my testimony in that God really does work according to his purpose. He is watching us, and He knows us. He knows what is best for us when and where, and he knows that it's through different people that we can all receive eternal life. I prayed for humility and that I could have the faith to know that whatever God does in my life, in the life of others will go well.. and I guess that is called hope.
What a cool thing!
Hope you have a blessed week! Missin' y'all, and have a Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms and to my mom: I LOVE YOU!
Sincerely,
Elder Black
