My Dear Family,
I'm Pregnant.
I'll get back to you on that... anyway, Greetings from the south! I love writing to you guys, I hope everybody is doing great and I have just been informed that this past week you experienced weather in the 60s. Did that groundhog not see his shadow this Feb?
(Oh gosh, Taylor Swift just came on the radio:))) - [There's our Adam!]
That sounds so nice though, I'm sure you were all in shorts and T-Shirts! :-D Marietta was pretty nice and ice again. I have never seen literal pieces of ice fall from the sky! It was pretty dope, and pretty dangerous when we ventured in the middle of it. Thankfully people had learned their lesson from the last snowstorm two weeks ago, and nobody was on the roads. So not too treacherous (mom), and with everybody inside their homes with no where to go, we thought it would be the best time to strike and see people we've have been trying to follow up with for weeks!
We had lots of success, and needless to say we survived this recent Snowmaggedon. And because of our work and extra effort we actual made a goal this past week.
As a mission have different goals called The Standard Of Excellence, this includes goals such as having 70 contacts a week and a baptism and so forth. We we reached the goal to have 20 lessons total for a week! That includes lessons to members and nonmembers, and our investigators. So high five to all y'all and high five to our Lord, without him nothing would be possible!
So returning to my first remark, I'm pregnant.
If you remember back to when I was being trained by Elder Hoyt, I mentioned that he is my "Father", and that I am his "Son", Trainer to Greenie, Father to Son. Well, I am pregnant and the delivery date for my son is going to be this coming Wednesday, Transfer day. I am going to be training a brand new missionary! Oh boy, I am totally excited and totally scared out of my mind! :-O
I'll be staying here in this ward now for the next 12 weeks, and who knows what to expect! I am totally nervous cause I want this guy to be the best missionary and I know from the experience I've had thus far on the mission that I think I have a pretty good Idea what to do and what not to do for a new missionary. But again this greenie is someone who is completely different from me, he has his own personality and traits and I just have to figure out how to manage them so we can work together and figure out what to do and then baptize...
Is parenthood anything like this? ... [All this AND more!]
Last Friday, those who were called to be the new trainers went up to the mission office and we had a training from President Wolfert. It was so good! I love President and I am really really going to miss him when he leaves in the next couple months. The training really focused on being Exactly Obedient.
By following everything that the Lord asks of us. Do you know how hard that is for members? Or for missionaries? Or even people in general? Ya it is called being imperfect, and I think only the only man who was perfectly obedient was Abraham and he only reached this by nearly sacrificing his own son. (Hopefully I won't have to kill this new greenie.) And besides him the only being that ever lived on this earth who was perfectly obedient was Jesus. I don't compare myself to him, neither to any other biblical character or even members of this church cause it is like guess what we are all in the same boat. And I guess that is where faith comes in. By putting our trust in Him who can answer the sincere desires of our heart.
I'm willing to be exactly obedient to all the mission rules and I hope to trust in the Lord cause the desire of my heart is still is to bring souls to the waters of baptism. Oh what joy fills my entity when I think of the day where I see someone receiving the purest of joy from our Savior, Jesus Christ. OH HOW BEAUTIFUL. How grateful are we to have an atonement. I love this gospel, I love this church. Gosh, I'm going off now....
Well I just love being a missionary. And I am going to love it being the Senior Companion. :)
Well y'all stay classy now, and I cant wait to write to ya again in a week! Peace and Blessings
- love, Elder Black
