So I read that both of my parents back home were given the opportunity to speak in church this past week. I would point the finger and jokingly say , "ha ha, suckers", but guess what, I got to speak this Sunday too.
To anybody given the "great opportunity" to talk in church, deal with it, study the scriptures, and try to make it a missionary experience! Haha, I tried to do that anyway.
A couple of investigators who came to church a while back left uneasy and bored, and you know what in a branch made of young new adults, to be honest at times it can be very awkward and boring! But it is still good and I wanted to try to show this to our investigators, so I was trying to you know, save the day, and wanted to go out and visit those who would be speaking and then invite them to invite their friends! So last week I ended up texting our 2nd counselor in the bishopric and asked him who would speak this coming Sunday.
The message I received back not long after was,
"Elder Black would you like to speak this coming sacrament meeting?"
Reluctantly I said yes, and so I guess the quote now goes, "many are called, but those few that call are chosen...".
This weekend was a weekend of black speakers. Not meaning to discriminate any of the actual black speakers that spoke in the other churches. This was the first time speaking in church since the farewell talk. And I would say it went pretty well, the branch had more people than ever before, and only one of our investigators came, but there were dozens of other new faces. It made me wonder what it might be like when I get home and do the actual homecoming talk. Wowsers! Before I know it it will be like that.
But back to this week, it was actually really solid. It was another roller coaster. Losing and gaining new people to teach, battling our own struggles and celebrating my companions birthday can all add to the ride. But what is really neat is last Monday we got THE CALL and here we go again, and training here we come! This coming transfer (Wednesday) will be a whole new world, I'm excited, and like with kids every time you have one it's a whole new experience. (at least that's what I'm told) and this time it will actually be a really different experience and situation. My companion, Elder Kelly will also be training with me, Team-training a brand new greenie! and the GANM will have one of their first "gay baby". Hardy har harrr!!! -_-
I feel like this new guy will be either a visa waiter, a special needs, or foreign missionary. It is gonna be intense, and I guess we will all see what will turn out this week. It's weird to think that soon there will be 3 of us. Haha, I do like the idea tho... the three amigos! three blind mice! 3 legged racers! I don't know what else to add, but 3 should do it.
Hurrah for Israel! Brand new start, new transfer, new president, new experiences!
Take care everyone and hope y'all have a blessed week!
Love,
Elder Black
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELDER WITT!!
