Good Morning, Family & Friends!
Summer days and summer nights in the Branch. These past few weeks have been tough, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Last week was one very strenuous, but in the end one of the most rewarding. Comparisions to hikes on Mt. Olympus, strenuous and tiring the climb, but then to reach the top, looking over a valley of visions (how beautiful and how much I miss the SLC) and seeing victory was yours. "Started from the bottom, now we heeerr!"
It's weeks like these that make the mission so great.
In our teaching pool which is now at about 8-10, we now have an investigator on date for July 5! This guy is ELECT. He is humble, he is smart, and most of all he has a burning desire with the flames and yearning of fascination. It's fantastic! And he's like a sponge, he gets everything we teach. I freakin' love the guy.!
What else is good is being able to teach a lot of new investigators too. It can be tricky, but I've learned in the past few weeks how to manage it, and how to do it by the Spirit. Thanks again to the mother who raised me! Her JetBlue managing flights skill was passed down to me, woopdeedoo!
... but now, We all face the struggle ...
There are people who just don't see their divine potential, people who we are working with who don't see it. And again it's sad when missionaries don't see it either. I'm trying to be a light to others, but sometimes I need a light to see. And sometimes my light flickers. But lights never burn out.
I saw fireflies the other night, or "lightning bugs" as they say in the South. These bugs are so legit, and they hold such a neat analogy. In order for these bugs to communicate with each other or as science describes it as "mate selection". They send out steady flashes of light and patterns to communicate with others through their buttocks.
Do we not do the same, but without the butts? Haha, a solid relationship with our companions, coworkers, friends, or even a husband and wife must be made through these steady and consecutive patterns of light and communication. We gotta keep build each other up. It's the only way to get out of the dark.
I didn't make it to the top of Mt. Olympus by myself, no I would have maybe quit half way or gotten lost knowing my keen sense of direction. But again, no. I didn't make it to the top of that mountain by myself, but with the help of a companion and best friend.
So support those around you, and support everyone. We all have problems we face, but those go away when we reach out in sincerity and love for others.
Ha, this church is so true!
It seems like one minute we are children of the stars, and the next thing we are the ones creating them. Time is a flicker of light and it moves so fast. The rush of joy to see the fruits of your labor and the rush of joy to see some of those fruits are You.
The Book of Mormon is so true. And now in the free time I get, I study D&C and WOW! That stuff is so cool, I wish I read it before. Haha. Conversation and Conversion is a beautiful thing and I'm so grateful that we have the ability to choose and change. The path is straight and narrow, but when we walk by faith rather than by sight we make it across.
Take care err'body and have a great week!!!
Forever yours,
Elder Black
